BBVHFH Committees Business Operations Committee [Updated: Functions & Responsibilities [To include but not limited to]: 1. Financial: Maintain business records, track income & expenses, pay obligations, inform and thank donors 2. Insurance – Negotiate, track & pay 3. Property Taxes – Track & pay 4. IRS Tax Preparation: Prepare BBVHFH annual income & expense statements for IRS tax reporting by accountant 5. Maintain e-mail and USPS mailing lists of Habitat participants, donors, contractors, & supporters 6. Prepare business correspondence, including donor acknowledgements & tax information, as required. 7. Perform other business functions as directed by the BBVHFH Board of Directors.
Special Projects Committee [Updated: Functions & Responsibilities [To include but not limited to]: 1. Home Dedication: Organize, plan & facilitate home dedications. 2. BBVHFH Community Participation: Organize, plan & facilitate BBVHFH participation in community activities, e.g., MS Walk, Doo Dah Parade, Old Miners’ Days functions, Chamber of Commerce mixers. 3. Organizational Support: Augment & assist where requested outside organizations in support of BBVHFH functions, e.g., Golf Tournament, Antique Road Show, other fundraisers and functions 4. Organize, plan & facilitate other “special activities” as directed by the BBVHFH Board of Directors, e.g., assist & support the Community Relations Committee in fundraising activities, provide assistance with the golf tournament
Community Relations Committee [Updated: Functions & Responsibilities [To include but not limited to]: 1. Fundraising: Originate, organize, and facilitate fundraising efforts 2. Community Communications: Prepare and distribute quarterly newsletters. Prepare and distribute quarterly press releases to local newspapers, radio & television stations, & community websites; establish & maintain partnerships with same. Prepare and maintain BBVHFH General Information pamphlets for community distribution. 3. Habitat International: Maintain partnership and communication with HFH International 4. Community Outreach: Facilitate ongoing partnerships with service clubs, chambers-of-commerce, schools and other civic organizations. 5. Governmental Relations: Establish & facilitate ongoing partnerships with governmental organizations, e.g., City of Big Bear Lake, 6. Perform other community relations functions as directed by the BBVHFH Board of Directors.
Family Relations Committee [Updated: Functions & Responsibilities [To include but not limited to]: 1. Family Selection: organize selection meetings, analyze potential families, and recommend candidate families for Board approval. 2. Family Support: Provide oversight of Habitat families with regard to home ownership, general support and financial planning. 3. Financing: Focal point for home financing alternatives to include investigation and completion of monetary grant applications 4. Perform other family support functions as directed by the BBVHFH Board of Directors.
Construction Committee [Updated: Functions & Responsibilities [To include but not limited to]: 1. Home Construction: Plan, organize, facilitate, and participate in new home construction. 2. Home Rehabilitation: Plan, organize, facilitate, and participate in home rehabilitation projects 3. Site Selection: Investigate, evaluate and recommend to the Board applicable building sites. Investigate, evaluate and recommend to the Board applicable home rehabilitation projects. 4. Material Acquisition: Identify, solicit, acquire and provide for the necessary storage, where appropriate, of all building materials for home construction. 5. Contractor & Supplier Liaison: Maintain & enhance partnerships with all potential contractors, suppliers and construction support organizations. 6. Technology Assessment: Investigate, evaluate and recommend where appropriate new technologies for incorporation into home construction based on applicability and financial viability. 7. Perform other construction functions as directed by the BBVHFH Board of Directors.
Church Relations Committee [Updated: Functions & Responsibilities [To include but not limited to]: 1. Church Relations: Facilitate active partnerships with all local churches 2. Perform other church relations functions as directed by the BBVHFH Board of Directors.
